OUR VISION
Who We Are Called To Be
The Light On The Hill, connecting, directing, and transforming lives for Christ; lighting the path to His kingdom. We provide a worship service to:
• Reflect on our relationship with Christ
• Discover our purpose in Christ
• Pray and encourage one another
• Share Christ's love and saving power
OUR MISSION
What We Are Called To Do
The unified mission of the UMC (as appears in the 2020-24 BOD and on the UMC website) is to encourage others to be disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Local churches and extension ministries of the Church provide the most significant arenas through which disciple-making occurs. The application of God's word in our daily lives is key to spiritual growth and effective ministry. God's mission is expressed through NOW: nurture the body, outreach in the community, and witness through sharing the good news of God's glorious kingdom
OUR COMMUNITY
Whom We Are Called To Serve
Asbury UMC, formerly organized as Tate's Chapel in 1865, as discussed in the "About Us" area of this website, is called to serve the small town of Clinton, which was founded in 1801 and originally named Burvill. So, the church has been in existence almost as long as the city. During the early 1800s, the church was specifically organized for former Black slaves. But as the city has changed, so has the church changed as Christ has grown our hearts. We are here to serve anyone from the local neighborhoods and the small-town community of Clinton who would seek our assistance, want to worship and study with us, or want to formally join our church as a member. Along with serving Clinton, we desire to serve other local UMC churches in the community, our district, region, and the world.
Our Leadership Team Supporting the Vision
