OUR VISION
Who We Are Called To Be
The Light On The Hill, connecting, directing, and transforming lives for Christ; lighting the path to His kingdom. We provide a worship service to:
• Reflect on our relationship with Christ
• Discover our purpose in Christ
• Pray and encourage one another
• Share Christ's love and saving power
OUR MISSION
What We Are Called To Do
The unified mission of the UMC (as appears in the 2020-24 BOD and on the UMC website) is to encourage others to be disciples for Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Local churches and extension ministries of the Church provide the most significant arenas through which disciple-making occurs. The application of God's word in our daily lives is key to spiritual growth and effective ministry. God's mission is expressed through NOW: Nurture the body, Outreach in the community, and Witness through sharing the good news of God's glorious kingdom.
OUR COMMUNITY
Whom We Are Called To Serve
We are called to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to serve God by imitating Christ through selfless service to others, starting in our local community, the small town of Clinton, which was founded in 1801 and originally named Burville. So, the church, organized in 1865, has been in existence almost as long as the city. During the early 1800s, the church was specifically organized for former Black slaves. But, as the community, and times have changed, so has the church. Now, we are here to serve everyone in the community, starting with our families, the local neighborhoods, and the small-town community of Clinton. Also, this includes anyone who would seek our assistance, and want to worship with us and are seeking a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. Our online zoom services and our new website provide great opportunity for outreach (See the zoom link and passcode on the home page if you would like to join us for service).
